Phase 1 Lust of the Eyes
Recognize
It’s one thing to say you’re addicted but how do we really know for sure it IS an addiction? So let us define it first.
Addiction: The state of being enslaved to a habit or practice psychologically or physically habit forming. 2.
a condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing or activity.
Enslaved
huh? That’s how I felt at times, like I couldn’t stop the thoughts , couldn’t stop the desire for more. The shame after looking it up, hoping nobody finds out.
What does the Bible say about Pornography’?
First what is porn? I didn’t look up the definition to it because we all know what it is. Its art, video or Pictures designed to arouse lust, by means of sex, nudity and innuendo, in its viewers, in us. So anything Anime, movies, cartoons, actual people, dolls, pictures anything...
Basic Facts
1. Porn involves unmarried folks. Yep. Why is that wrong? It’s either fornication or adultery at this point, that’s why. (Rom 1:32)
2. Porn usually has homo acts in it. How many guys would enjoy watching two girls? Is it healthy to encourage this behavior?
(Mk 9:42)
42 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a
millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.
(Rom1:32) who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
3. Can have animal acts or children....
(Lev18:23) Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman
stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.
4. Purchasing pornographic material supports an industry that promotes sin, transgression and flat out depravity of all kinds.
5. It exploits both men and women and promotes the lie that our value is based in the outward appearance. This creates a false sense of beauty that, unfortunately,
our society has embraced and endorsed with open arms." God looks on the heart (1 Sam. 16:7)", not
on the bust size or body shape.
6.
The pornographic industry teaches women to live without discretion and Scripture is clear about that: “Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion” (Prov. 11:22). Women seeking
money, fame or notoriety are often drawn into indiscretion and sin by the money
that exposing their bodies brings. Even women who feel uncomfortable exposing
themselves often compromise their standards because of the money they can
make.
(Rom 1:24) Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their
bodies among themselves,
7.The porn industry also traps people into sin. How many women has allowed
herself to be pictured in compromising positions ( to say the least) when she
was young and unwise and has later regretted ever allowing that to happen.
Often, having signed away all rights for the photos she posed for, she cannot
stop the owner from showing them when she is older and has a lot to lose, what
if her kids see that?
Proverbs 7 speaks of a situation just as this from 6-23. Where a guy is not forced but rather seduced into sinning… I have edited it for space.
And saw among the simple…A young man devoid of understanding…With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart… At times she was outside, at times in the open square, Lurking at every corner...
With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the
stocks,[a]23 Till an arrow struck his liver. He did not know it would cost his life.
A bad decision cost him his life? Yea. A 3 second orgasm can cost you 18 years of pain. Some folks in my family have done this with baby momma drama, using the baby as a tool for money or attention.
8. Pornographyconditions men to view women as things to be used for pleasure, not as they
really are—we are all Gods creations. We all have a ministry that we need to fulfill; Chic’s are to be treated as our sisters or Moms, not objects.
9.
"Well those girls like to do that or they wouldn’t be there!"Just as women become conditioned to think of men as being sex crazy, the chic’s who allow themselves to be photographed and videoed, and participate in graphic sex talk and “phone sex,” portray all women in a tainted light. How much of this goes on without drugs or alcohol? Or are they related in some way?
(Hab 2:15)“Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor, Pressing[e]him to your bottle,Even to make him drunk, That you may look on his nakedness”!
What allot of folks don’t realize is this: when you click on a site it’s a "hit" even if by accident, it’s a "hit" that means to the webmaster, that someone came and looked. Regardless if you liked it now he can get more money by saying his site has so many "hits" a day. So what must he do? Go find more stuff to put on their which in turn creates more folks getting hurt.
Lets see some scripture
Romans 1:32 although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such thingsdeserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approveof those who practice them." Key word is what? “Approve” here. So by watching and clicking on the site your giving your "approval"
1Tim5:22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins ofothers. Keep yourself pure. Keep pure and don’t share in others sins....hhmmm. So as not to be influenced by the world and its opinions toward sin.
Proverbs 2:14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
Rejoice. Celebrate. How many times have you got happy to show sex pictures? or tell about sexual conquests? This entices your listeners to fantasize and can make your "Brother Stumble"
‘But the thing David had done displeased the Lord’ (2 Sam.31:27).
The first thing David did in this chapter: ‘Fromthe roof he saw a woman bathing’ (vs. 2) Watching
nudity deliberately - which is what watching porn basically involves - does not please God.
Matt. 5:27-28, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery'; 28 but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." This
is fantasizing, obsessing and it will create the foot hold needed for other sins to jump in.
So, do you feel addicted? Do you feel like you can fight it and stop whenever you want to?
We are told to stand against the Devil. The one who is the most evil? The scariest thing on this
earth we stand and fight against? But we are told to flee sexual temptation. How is that true?
(1 Cor 6:18-19 )Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
(James 4:7) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Phase 1 Action
So now we need a plan to end all this. We need to focus on the goal not the problem. If you focus on the problem you’ll be beating yourself up every time you fail. We can’t give up at all. If you have been in this cycle for 5 years or 20 years it’s gonna take some time to fix it.
1. Here it is ok...ready....run away... literally. Get up and walk away soon as you’re tempted. I don’t care if you’re doing school work, leave. Get away from the source if it’s the TV or computer whatever. This sounds easy but it’s not. It’s so hard it may take you a month to get strong enough to do it.
2. You need to recognize the "electric" feeling. Then you’ll know when you’re treading in shallow water.
Focus on these two things in the first week. They will raise your awareness. Don’t avoid TV or movies yet because you need to feel you physiological changes. Walking away is hard. Real hard. You gotta be strong.
Yea, being porn free three days does not excuse sneaking on the fourth day, but ...do understand that you have accomplished something positive and you can do better next time. It took me a couple of years.
